Davis Wright Tremaine has expanded its intellectual property practice on the West Coast with the addition of PHILIP ALBERT as a partner in San Francisco. Previously with Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton since 1991, Albert’s practice focuses on patent prosecution and IP matters related to electronics, software, and business methods in various technologies.

Leveraged finance lawyer GREGORY RUBACK has joined DLA Piper from Proskauer Rose, where he was a partner in the corporate practice. Ruback will represent corporate borrowers as a partner in DLA’s finance group in New York.

THOMAS O’CONNOR and ALAN COHEN have left Cooley along with two other lawyers for 60-lawyer New York firm Duval & Stachenfeld. O’Connor, who specializes in commercial real estate, served as Cooley’s national real estate practice group chair until January, when he was replaced by Reston, Virginia–based partner Antonio Calabrese, sibling publication The National Law Journal reports. Cohen, a specialist in acquisitions and dispositions, construction, and development matters, had served as a senior partner in Cooley’s real estate group. Both join as partners, along with MAUREEN HANNON as of counsel and one associate.
