Davis Wright Tremaine has expanded its intellectual property practice on the West Coast with the addition of PHILIP ALBERT as a partner in San Francisco. Previously with Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton since 1991, Albert’s practice focuses on patent prosecution and IP matters related to electronics, software, and business methods in various technologies.
Leveraged finance lawyer GREGORY RUBACK has joined DLA Piper from Proskauer Rose, where he was a partner in the corporate practice. Ruback will represent corporate borrowers as a partner in DLA’s finance group in New York.
THOMAS O’CONNOR and ALAN COHEN have left Cooley along with two other lawyers for 60-lawyer New York firm Duval & Stachenfeld. O’Connor, who specializes in commercial real estate, served as Cooley’s national real estate practice group chair until January, when he was replaced by Reston, Virginia–based partner Antonio Calabrese, sibling publication The National Law Journal reports. Cohen, a specialist in acquisitions and dispositions, construction, and development matters, had served as a senior partner in Cooley’s real estate group. Both join as partners, along with MAUREEN HANNON as of counsel and one associate.
GrayRobinson has welcomed BRADLEY GOULD, a former partner at Holland & Knight, as a shareholder in Miami. Gould works with clients on matters involving government takings, condemnation, and land use litigation.
Katten Muchin Rosenman has hired DARIUS GOLDMAN as a partner in the financial services practice in the firm’s New York office. Prior to joining Katten Muchin, Goldman was a senior associate at Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel, advising banks and hedge funds on trading and restructuring distressed assets.
MARLAN WALKER, a former in-house lawyer at Medicis Pharmaceutical Corporation, has joined Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton‘s Walnut Creek, California, office as counsel in the health and life sciences practice. In December, Canadian health care company Valeant Pharmaceutical International Inc. completed its acquisition of Walker’s former employer Medicis.
GARY ANDERSON has left the partnership of Baker & Hostetler to join King & Spalding’s business litigation practice as a partner in Washington, D.C. Anderson represents clients from the energy, pharmaceutical, and technology industries, as well as defense contractors.
Labor and employment firm Littler Mendelson has added a new shareholder in its nearly two-year-old Nashville office. JOYCELYN STEVENSON, whose practice focuses on business immigration law, makes the move from Bradley Arant Boult Cummings, where she was a partner.

Former DLA Piper corporate partner ANTHONY WILLIAMS has moved to McKenna Long & Aldridge as a partner in New York. Williams will focus on commercial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and securities, and private equity investments, for both U.S. and non-U.S. clients.
MATHEW KIDWELL has joined Morgan, Lewis & Bockius’s business and finance practice, where he will be advising clients from the oil and gas industry on mergers and acquisitions and project development matters. Kidwell, who was most recently a partner with K&L Gates, will be based in Morgan Lewis’s London arm.
Five San Francisco commercial litigators have lateraled from Gordon & Rees to SNR Denton ahead of SNR’s merger with Canadian firm Fraser Milner Casgrain and French firm Salans. As reported by sibling publication The Recorder partners FLETCHER ALDFORD, LAURA GEIST, and DOUGLAS SCULLION have made the move, along two associates and most of their clients.
