While Datatern holds patents that it claims are related to SAP's software, it's never sued SAP for patent infringement—instead, it's tried to get money out of companies that use SAP's software. On Friday, Judge Katherine Forrest in New York issued a summary judgment ruling that SAP doesn't infringe Datatern's patents, as well as an injunction barring Datatern from making further settlement requests to SAP's customers.
