Linklaters has recruited a new capital markets partner to its Beijing office.
Pui Hong Chik was previously a partner in the Beijing office of Baker & McKenzie. He specializes in advising Chinese companies on Hong Kong and China initial public offerings, as well as other capital markets transactions and regulatory compliance issues.
In May, Chik advised Shandong-based Yanzhou Coal Mining Co. Ltd. on a $1 billion notes issue on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Last year, he acted as counsel to Chinese brokerage CITIC Securities Company Ltd., on a $1.7 billion global offering in Hong Kong.
Chik joined Baker & McKenzie as an associate in 2000 from Herbert Smith. He became a partner in Baker & McKenzie in 2007.
Including Chik, Linklaters has 27 lawyers in Beijing, six of whom are partners. In China, the British Magic Circle firm also has offices in Shanghai and Hong Kong. It has over 2,500 lawyers worldwide.
