King & Wood Mallesons has hired a new partner for its real estate team in Sydney.
Sonya Harris joins the firm from Australian property developer Mirvac Ltd., where she was general counsel and company secretary. At Sydney-based Mirvac, she advised on several of the company’s key transactions including its $1.2 billion takeover of the Westpac Office Trust and the $150 million acquisition of Sydney’s Harold Park Paceway, both in 2010.
Prior to joining Mirvac in 2009, Harris was a general counsel at Multiplex (now Brookfield Multiplex), a contract development company that designs, builds and maintains real estate and infrastructure projects.
Before going in-house in 2005, she was a partner with Minter Ellison in Sydney.
