Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A. Shroff & Co. has hired a new northern region tax head for its Delhi office. Joining the firm’s partnership is former KPMG Delhi tax head and senior executive director Krishan Malhotra.

Malhotra has extensive experience in advising on domestic and international tax issues related to in and outbound investments, mergers and acquisitions, and general business strategies.

Prior to his two-and-a-half years at accounting firm KPMG, Malhotra was a Delhi-based senior executive director in the tax and regulatory services department of PricewaterhouseCoopers for three years. He joined PricewaterhouseCoopers when the London-based accounting giant acquired RSM & Co., formerly one of India’s largest local auditing firms. Malhotra worked at RSM & Co. for a decade, and was a senior partner when the firm entered into the deal with PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Amarchand & Mangaldas has more than 70 partners and 550 lawyers working in offices in Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Ahmedabad. As reported by The Asian Lawyer in May, the family-operated firm has adopted a new business plan, Amarchand 3.0, and aims to set up overseas office and grow to at least 1000 lawyers by 2017.
