Singapore law firm KhattarWong has recruited a partner for its corporate and securities practice.
Kelvyn Oo joins the firm from joint venture firm Duane Morris Selvam, where he was a director. His practice focuses on corporate finance, public and private transactions, and investment funds. Prior to joining Selvam in 2008, he worked for three years at Straits Law Practice.
Oo’s recent experience includes acting for Sin Heng Heavy Machinery Ltd., a Singapore-based crane rental and trading company, on joint ventures in mainland China and Myanmar. He has also advised precision engineering company UMS Holdings Ltd. on its proposed listing on the Korean Exchange as well as its $22 million acquisition of the Singapore and U.S. arms of Integrated Manufacturing Technologies Pte. Ltd., completed in February.
Yoong Nim Chor, a partner since 1996 of his own firm, Yoong & Partners, is also joining KhattarWong as a consultant. KhattarWong has made several hires since a number of the firm’s prominent lawyers set up a rival practice, RHT Law, which recently joined an exclusive alliance with U.K. firm Taylor Wessing.
In January corporate partner Long Hsueh Ching returned to the firm from RHT Law. That was followed in February with KhattarWong’s hire of partner Wong Wan Ting from rival Singapore firm Shook Lin & Bok.
