Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, a pioneer for U.S. firms entering China, is closing its office in Beijing at the end of 2025. The firm is at least the 13th U.S. firm to close an office in China this year.

Paul Weiss was one of the first U.S. firms to establish a strong presence on mainland China, opening its soon-to-be-defunct Beijing office in 1981. The firm opened an office in Hong Kong in 1983. After the Beijing office closes, the firm will be left with Asia offices in Hong Kong and Tokyo.
