The surge in demand and profits this year is creating a ripple effect in the battle for talent, with rainmakers more on the move, groups of lawyers getting poached, and rising bonuses for associates.
Just this week, it was revealed that Latham & Watkins and Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison lured top rainmakers from Weil Gotshal & Manges. That capped off a flurry of other Am Law 50 moves in November — typically a slower time in lateral activity.
