A $2.67 billion settlement was approved in an Alabama court Tuesday after almost a decade of litigation against insurance provider Blue Cross Blue Shield. Lead firm Boies Schiller Flexner is set to earn the lion’s share of a $667 million windfall in fees for the plaintiffs firms involved in the case, according to court documents.

Federal Judge R. David Proctor signed off on the legal fee, saying 25% of the award was reasonable. Boies Schiller originated and led the multidistrict litigation against BCBS for more than nine years, along with litigation boutique Hausfeld. Washington, D.C., law firm Cooper & Kirk also assisted in the litigation, as did a number of other firms.
