McDermott Will & Emery‘s new Austin office was two years in the making before finally coming to fruition this week, when the Am Law 100 firm landed a large intellectual property group from Baker Botts.
“We spent the last two years in being thoroughly, meticulously [looking at] opportunities to launch in Austin. We were looking for the absolute perfect alignment in respect to our strategic objectives. We found that perfect fit,” said Chicago partner Michael Poulos, McDermott’s head of strategy.
