Citrix Systems, the legacy software company that was at the forefront of virtual desktops and cloud computing and has benefited from a surge in remote work the last two years, was bought by private equity firms Evergreen Coast Capital and Vista Equity Partners on Monday for $16.5 billion.

Goodwin Procter acted as legal counsel for Citrix, while Kirkland & Ellis represented Vista and TIBCO, a Vista portfolio company that will merge with Citrix once the transaction is complete.
