When Milbank announced on Jan. 20 that it was raising associate salaries, the expectation was that many firms would directly follow suit. Some did right away and others have joined in recently, with DLA Piper and Winston & Strawn matching today.

The expectation was also that many more would wait until at least one of two other firms chimed in—Davis Polk & Wardwell and Cravath Swaine & Moore. Those two firms have yet to comment on the salary increases and did not immediately return requests for comment for this story.
