Overall deal value and volume, as well as SPAC activity, have dominated coverage of the transactional space over the last 18 months, and with good reason. They keep breaking records. 

But IPOs are also having a banner year. According to Refinitiv, a total of 1,793 initial public offerings have been recorded globally so far during 2021—and that does not include companies going public via SPAC merger. That’s 67% more than the number recorded during the same period in 2020 and the highest year-to-date tally since Refinitiv began keeping records in 1980.
