Several large law firms are not abandoning plans for virtual summer associate programs, even after federal health officials loosened rules for the vaccinated population. But firms are now incorporating—or at least leaving room for—in-office events for summer associates.

While the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention this month said vaccinated people could go most places without masks and did not have to social distance, firms already made commitments to summer associates to have virtual or hybrid program weeks in advance of those new guidelines.
