Christopher Betts, a Skadden, Arps Slate, Meagher & Flom corporate partner in Hong Kong who has worked on some of the largest deals coming out of Greater China in recent years, has left the firm to become general counsel of the Singapore-based ride-hailing, food delivery and financial services company Grab Holdings.

Betts is moving to a client as it undertakes a massive SPAC deal. Skadden is one of the firms, along with Hughes Hubbard & Reed, advising Grab as it prepares to merge with a special-purpose acquisition company (SPAC) sponsored by California-based Altimeter Capital, in a deal valued at nearly $40 billion—the largest-ever U.S. equity offering by a Southeast Asian company.
