In the past year, Am Law 200 firm leaders across the country have cited firm culture as a primary reason for wanting to return to the office.

In Nashville, Tennessee, Adams and Reese managing partner Guilford “Gif” Thornton Jr. felt similarly. Shortly after his attorneys went remote, Thornton looked at local restrictions where his offices were and CDC recommendations on social distancing. In May 2020, a full year or more before much of the Am Law 200, Thornton told his 447 employees they could come back to the office.
