Mergermarket’s first-quarter league tables came out last week, revealing three new entries into the top 10 compared with Q1 2020. White & Case climbed to the top of the deal value rankings after being listed at No. 14 in 2020. Kirkland & Ellis came in at No. 2 after finishing at No. 6 in 2020 and Cravath, Swaine & Moore jumped to No. 4 from No. 10.

The top five for deal value were the aforementioned White & Case ($172 billion), Kirkland ($159 billion), Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom ($156 billion), Cravath ($152 billion) and Latham & Watkins ($134 billion). Skadden and Latham were the only two firms to appear in the top five in both 2020 and 2021.
