Sherman & Howard’s profitability flat-lined in 2020 as the litigation-heavy firm prioritized keeping its workforce employed and held back partner draws to preserve cash throughout the pandemic.

The Denver-based firm’s trend in recent years of year-over-year revenue growth stagnated last year at $112 million, 1% less than in 2019. Divided across a total lawyer head count that was reduced from 185 to 177, that made for revenue per lawyer of $635,000, which was 3.4% higher than in 2019.
