Like a brutal Windy City winter, Big Law partners in Chicago can be icy about their pay, according to a biennial survey of legal market compensation.

Respondents in Chicago recorded the second-highest level of dissatisfaction toward their earnings in the 2020 Partner Compensation Survey from Major, Lindsey & Africa. About 28% of partners here registered some level of dissatisfaction with their pay, second only to Philadelphia (35%) across markets surveyed. The average rate of dissatisfaction across the country was 19%.
