In the hours and days since the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, we have heard and seen a number of responses from the legal community. Some questioned the role of President Trump’s lawyers in inciting Wednesday’s events. One firm leader asked Gina, as the editor of The American Lawyer, “what does it mean to be an American lawyer” right now? Several firms issued statements condemning the violence. And then Crowell & Moring took the step of calling for Trump’s ouster. After calling around to get other law firm leaders to join in that effort, these are the firms that have signed on. And separately, thousands of lawyers individually signed on to efforts by good government groups [Lawyers Defending American Democracy and Lawyers for Good Government] to remove Trump from office.
