Retired California Superior Court Judge James Warren, who presided over the infamous San Francisco dog-mauling trial, is likely to sit on assignment to decide whether he made the right decision six years ago when he ordered a new murder trial.
Supreme Court Chief Justice Ronald George has a standing order that retired judges cannot both sit on assignment and participate in private alternative dispute resolution. But San Francisco’s presiding criminal judge, Kay Tsenin, said the Administrative Office of the Courts had indicated it would grant Warren, who works for JAMS, special dispensation to hear the case.
