Security software company Symantec Corp. said Dec. 19 it has been awarded $21 million in damages against a network of distributors selling counterfeit Symantec software. Symantec said a federal court in Los Angeles ruled against SILI Inc. and related defendants. In a case filed in Nov. 2006, Symantec claimed the defendants engaged in trademark and copyright infringement, fraud, unfair competition and false advertising.
