A task force is recommending better training for justice court judges in Mississippi. The panel wants to require an associate's degree or five years equivalent work experience as a certified law enforcement officer, certified paralegal, court clerk, deputy clerk or court administrator. It also recommended an increase from 32 to 80 hours of legal and judicial training and completion of a minimum competency exam, as well as requiring 24 instead of 18 hours of continuing education each year.
