Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott filed two civil complaints in federal district court Dec. 5 accusing two Web sites aimed at children of failing to protect their users' privacy and safety. According to the complaint, Thedollpalace.com and Gamesradar.com unlawfully collect names, ages and home addresses of children and use parental consent features that are easily circumvented.

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott filed two civil complaints in federal district court Dec. 5 accusing two Web sites aimed at children of failing to protect their users’ privacy and safety.
According to Abbott, Texas is the first state to file complaints under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, a 1998 federal law intended to prevent Web sites from unnecessarily collecting personal information from children under 13.
