Lovells has entered the Japanese domestic market with the hire of an eight-strong bengoshi team from a local boutique. The firm is expanding its Tokyo office with the appointment of bengoshi partner Eiichiro Kubota and a seven-member intellectual property team from the Kubota Law & Patent Office. The group will join Lovells' Tokyo office on Jan. 1, 2008, and will work with the office's existing U.K.-qualified IP team, which is led by Lloyd Parker.
