One critic, noting that Cole's client list includes corporate heavy-hitters like PG&E, said Poizner's assertion that the new GC will be a consumer ally "isn't going to fly."

Heller Ehrman partner Adam Cole, a specialist in representing corporate policyholders in insurance coverage litigation, was named general counsel at the California Department of Insurance on Wednesday.
Cole’s selection as general counsel follows a five-month “national search” by Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner for a candidate to replace Gary Cohen, who left the department in July to become general counsel at Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co.
