Since May, Matt Ritter has been busy. He became the fourth member of his family to graduate from the University of Connecticut School of Law. He took the bar exam. And he started a job at Shipman & Goodwin. He also spent off hours knocking on doors in Hartford, Conn., campaigning to be a member of the City Council. Ritter's father, a former speaker of the state House of Representatives, thinks a legal background comes in handy politically, especially when dealing with complicated ordinances or charters.
