The Southern Environmental Law Center has opened a Washington office to better influence legislation affecting water, air and land in the Southeast. The group has hired Nathaniel Mund to launch the office. He joins from the League of Conservation Voters, where he was deputy legislative director. Mund says the SELC has largely focused on litigation and policy matters at the state and local level for its 20 years of existence but that an increasing number of environmental issues are influenced by Congress.
