Students cannot be prohibited from wearing buttons depicting a Hitler Youth assembly to protest a public school's mandatory uniform policy, a New Jersey federal judge has ruled. Issuing a preliminary injunction, the judge found that the two fifth-grade students and their parents would likely prevail in their First Amendment suit. Each student wore a button to school with the phrase "No School Uniforms" and a slashed red circle overlaying the photograph depicting dozens of young boys dressed in uniforms.
