Former DeKalb County District Attorney J. Tom Morgan is leaving Balch & Bingham, where he has been of counsel for three years, to launch a solo practice in Decatur, Ga. Morgan's departure coincides with the publication this month of his book "Ignorance Is No Defense: A Teenager's Guide to Georgia Law." But his new venture as a solo practitioner also allows him to be the kind of lawyer that prompted him to go to law school in the first place. Says Morgan: "I'm finally going to be Atticus Finch."

Morgan’s departure coincides with the publication this month of his new book for Georgia teens, “Ignorance Is No Defense: A Teenager’s Guide to Georgia Law,” which he said will take him on an unofficial speaking tour of Georgia schools.
