And among those who endorsed Soares when he was running for DA? Spitzer, who was then attorney general.

Soares, the Albany County, N.Y., district attorney, said the sea scenes are in homage to his roots and those of his ancestors on Cape Verde, the island off the west coast of Africa where Soares spent the first six years of his life.
