A few Bush administration officials may have thought that John McKay was a poor performer, but Getty Images Inc. disagrees. One of eight U.S. Attorneys fired this past winter, McKay became the Seattle-based company’s new general counsel June 1.
The firings turned into a massive headache for the U.S. Department of Justice, especially after then-deputy AG Paul McNulty said that some of the dismissed U.S. Attorneys weren’t up to the job. That led a few of the former prosecutors to speak out in their defense, which in turn led several lawmakers to suggest that AG Alberto Gonzales was the one who needed to go.
