California's Supreme Court will decide whether a good Samaritan who pulled a friend out of a wrecked auto should be liable after the friend became paralyzed. Lisa Torti was hit with a negligence suit by the victim, who claimed her rescuer's actions caused or contributed to permanent paralysis. The state's Good Samaritan Law grants immunity from liability to individuals who render emergency care in a crisis. However, an appellate court found it only applies to those giving emergency "medical" care.
