Catherine Christian, the first black president of the New York County Lawyers' Association, was installed at the organization's annual meeting last week. At 43, Christian is also the youngest president ever and the first NYCLA president actively practicing in the public sector. "There's a paucity of attorneys [for] civil legal matters," Christian says, adding that she intends to advocate increased pro bono services for those who are "not necessarily indigent, but can't afford attorneys."
