AngioDynamics Inc., a maker of medical devices to treat cancer and vascular diseases, says it will appeal a federal court ruling denying its motion to overturn a verdict that its VenaCure laser infringes a patent owned by a competitor.

In late March, a federal jury in Boston found that devices made by AngioDynamics and Vascular Solutions Inc. infringed a Diomed Holdings Inc. patent that deals with laser treatments. Diomed first sued AngioDynamics and other competitors in 2004 over the patents. Representatives at Vascular Solutions could not be reached for immediate comment.
