A federal judge in Brooklyn has upheld a "novel application" of forced labor and sex trafficking statutes that resulted in the conviction of a man who repeatedly abused a woman and published photos of her on his sadomasochism Web site. In a motion to set aside the conviction, defense attorneys argued that Glenn Marcus' conduct, while offensive to most people, was part of a domestic relationship. Marcus could face up to 30 years in prison.

The defendant, Glenn Marcus, 53, was convicted of sex trafficking and forced labor in March and could face up to 30 years in prison.
