Glen Bodzy may not be a fashionista, but that didn’t stop him from becoming the general counsel of eclectic clothing giant Urban Outfitters Inc. Fortunately for Bodzy, being the chief lawyer of the Philadelphia-based chain is more about knowing how to litigate, and less about putting together a killer outfit. “You have extremely creative people who are working alongside those with strong business perspectives, and so there’s a collaboration between the two,” he says with a southern drawl.

Bodzy, 54, joined Urban Outfitters in 1997, right after leaving a GC gig at the Brentwood, Tenn.-based catalog-showroom retailer Service Merchandise Co. Inc. There’s only one other lawyer on Bodzy’s legal team at Urban Outfitters, and the pair do everything from keeping tabs on copycats to drawing up real estate leases.
