Bankruptcy filings plummeted last year, the first full year after the a major revision in the federal bankruptcy code. Filings in the federal bankruptcy courts dropped 70 percent nationally to their lowest level since 1988, according to data recently released by the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts. But some legal experts say the number of bankruptcy filings could inch up in future years, particularly if the economy deteriorates. Some firms seem to be beefing up their practice in anticipation.
