It’s probably no surprise that the general counsel of Facebook Inc. has his own profile on the company’s Web site. And Rudy Gadre, 36, the vice president, GC and secretary of the Palo Alto, Calif.-based social networking Web site, says he checks that profile regularly.

But unlike most other users on the wildly popular site, which was created by two college undergraduates in 2005, Gadre is decidedly postgraduate. He began his career at Perkins Coie in Seattle in 1994, working in the technology business group. Next, he joined Amazon.com Inc.’s legal department, focusing on corporate transactions. Six-and-a-half years later, he moved to a boutique his friends started called Beacon Law Advisors. This was his last stop before relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area to become part of the 17 million-member phenomenon known as Facebook.
