Hedge funds and private equity investors came under fire on several European fronts Thursday with political leaders urging talks at the European Union level and Socialists in the European Parliament releasing a critical report on “secretive financial deals.”

Speaking at a European Parliament seminar, Portuguese Finance Minister Fernando Teixeira dos Santos, whose country takes over the EU’s rotating presidency in July, said that EU finance ministers would soon discuss increasing the oversight of the industry, according to press reports.
