An upstate New York judge has removed a 266-pound 12-year-old girl from her parents’ home after the parents repeatedly failed to obey a court order to address her weight.
“[W]here, as here, there are clear medical standards and convincing evidence that there exist severe, life-limiting dangers due to parental lifestyle and persistent neglect, removal is justified,” Chemung County Family Court Judge David M. Brockway wrote in Matter of Kayla T., N-01242-03/06G.
