Sutherland Asbill & Brennan has lured high-profile litigator William R. Martin from the Washington office of Blank Rome to head its white-collar criminal defense practice.
Martin has represented a range of athletes, politicians, celebrities and corporate executives. Clients have included NBA players Jayson Williams, Allen Iverson, Juwan Howard and Rod Strickland, boxer Riddick Bowe, former White House intern Monica Lewinsky and the parents of murdered federal government intern Chandra Levy. He is currently defending actor Wesley Snipes, who has been indicted for tax fraud. As a federal prosecutor before going into private practice in 1990, he supervised the team that indicted former Washington Mayor Marion Barry.
