A judge and an attorney serving as a guardian ad litem for a minor in a case pending before the judge received public reprimands from the State Bar of Texas, because they chatted about the suit in a series of e-mails in 2004.
Their e-mails related to the suit — eight of which are on the Web site of the Bryan-College Station Eagle — show that then-Brazos County, Texas, Court-at-Law No. 1 Judge C. Randall Michel advised attorney Patricia Bonilla Harrison how to handle the case, Lerleane Clay as Next Friend of Bionica Lamar v. St. Joseph Hospital and Stephen Henry Chavez. Michel ultimately signed a judgment that awarded Harrison’s fee.
