Legislators who proposed bumping judges' pay and watched some of Atlanta's biggest law firms offer rookie lawyers $130,000 a year have introduced a bill that would give top prosecutors a $19,995 raise, lifting each DA's state-funded base salary from $107,905 to $127,900. The goal is to bring DAs' salaries closer to judges', says one Georgia DA. Prosecutors and state judges were paid the same amount until 1970. The Legislature approved a $6,000 raise for prosecutors last year.

Legislators who proposed bumping judges’ pay and had watched some of Atlanta’s biggest law firms offer rookie lawyers $130,000 a year have introduced a bill that would give top prosecutors a $19,995 raise.
The raise would increase each DA’s state-funded base salary from $107,905 to $127,900. Some DAs also receive pay supplements from their judicial circuits.
