With the merger between Philadelphia's Drinker Biddle & Reath and Chicago's Gardner Carton & Douglas finalized, the new entity is looking to structure itself more like the 640-attorney firm it has become. The firm has done away with its two-department umbrella of business and litigation and put in its place 14 national practice groups. And litigator Stephen Baker has been named the firm's first regional partner in charge of the Philadelphia office. He continues as chairman of the firm's insurance group.
