The Commission on Judicial Performance has publicly admonished a retired California judge for failing to disclose his chummy relationship with the prevailing plaintiffs attorney in a $94.5 million inverse condemnation suit. Former San Diego County Superior Court Judge Vincent DiFiglia, who retired in 2003, also violated a judicial canon by failing to disclose publicly that he had once worked for the defendant's counsel, the San Diego city attorney's office, the commission wrote.

Former San Diego County Superior Court Judge Vincent DiFiglia should have told the defendants in the 2001 case that he had a long-term friendship with the plaintiff’s co-counsel, Vincent Bartolotta Jr., commissioners said.
