A Boston judge has upheld an arbitration finding that MassMutual Financial Group fired CEO Robert O'Connell without cause and owes him about $50 million in salary and benefits. The Suffolk Superior Court judge on Tuesday dismissed MassMutual's lawsuit to overturn the arbitration ruling. The company's board of directors fired O'Connell in June 2005 for alleged misconduct, but the arbitration panel found that O'Connell did not engage in "willful gross misconduct" that would have justified a termination.
