Goodyear Tire & Rubber workers have ended a 12-week strike in time for New Year's Day. United Steelworkers members from 12 Goodyear plants in 10 states voted Dec. 28 on the three-year agreement, which includes plans to close a Texas tire factory but creates a $1 billion health care fund for retirees. The contract was approved by a two-to-one margin, the union said last week. The Texas factory will close after a one-year transition period for workers.
