JPMorgan Chase said Tuesday it has named a former Securities and Exchange Commission lawyer as executive vice president, general counsel and head of the company's legal and compliance activities worldwide. Stephen M. Cutler, who is currently a partner at WilmerHale in Washington, D.C., and co-chair of the firm's securities department, will take the GC post in February. Before joining WilmerHale in 2005, he was director of the SEC's division of enforcement.

Stephen M. Cutler will take the post in February. He succeeds Joan Guggenheimer, who died earlier this year.
