Attorneys for an 11-year-old boy from Long Island, N.Y., who was hospitalized after eating at a Taco Bell allegedly contaminated with the E. coli bacteria have sued the restaurant chain for negligence. The suit is believed to be the first resulting from an outbreak that sickened scores of Taco Bell patrons in at least three U.S. states. Taco Bell ordered scallions removed from its 5,800 U.S. restaurants after tests suggested they may be responsible for the outbreak.
